A-State Ranks 27th in Graduate Education Degrees Awarded to African-Americans
JONESBORO – Each year, Diverse: Issues in Higher Education, a national bi-weekly magazine, publishes a list of "The Top Producers of African-American Graduates" from U.S. universities and colleges.
Institutional rankings are organized into eight lists, based on the number of degrees awarded to African-Americans in 2012-13, the most recent year for which data are available.
The categories vary according to academic discipline and level, either bachelor's or master's degrees.
Arkansas State University is ranked 27th in the country this year under "Education, Master's Degrees." A‑State, which awarded 92 master's degrees in education to African-Americans during the 2012-13 year, tied with Hunter College and Mercy College, both of which are in the state of New York.
The lists are based on research conducted by Dr. Victor M.H. Borden, professor of educational leadership and policy studies at Indiana University.
