A-State Rugby Drops Narrow Decision to No. 1 Life

02/16/2019

MARIETTA, Ga. — Arkansas State University dropped a narrow 27-15 decision to No.1-ranked Life University in men’s college rugby Saturday afternoon.

“I’m very proud of our team today,” said A-State head coach Blake White. “We gave all the effort we had; we just didn’t execute enough when it mattered to come away with a win.

"Life is the No. 1 team in the country for a reason, and all credit goes to them for playing a great game. I hope we can use this loss as motivation to continue to progress through the rest of this year’s campaign.”

The Red Wolves had rocketed to fifth in the latest rankings by D1ARugby.com after defeating third-ranked Lindenwood last weekend. Life has stood in the No. 1 spot throughout the early season.

The Red Wolves got on the scoreboard early, thanks to a penalty kick by Dylan Boast. Other scoring came from Dale Hartmann and Pedro Alvarez on the try. Brock Roper connected on the conversion of Alvarez’s try.

Arkansas State will continue on the road when the Red Wolves play Clemson, Saturday, Feb. 23, at Clemson, S.C.
