A-State Summer Commencement Set for August 7
JONESBORO – Students numbering 777 will receive degrees at Arkansas State University’s 2015 summer graduation ceremony, Friday, Aug. 7. The ceremony begins at 7 p.m. in the Convocation Center, 217 Olympic Drive, in Jonesboro.
Of the summer class, 43 candidates are graduating with honors, including 23 cum laude, 15 magna cum laude, one summa cum laude and four with university honors from the Honors College.
Sarah Fagan of Benton, who is receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in radiologic sciences, will address the gathering on behalf of the graduating class. She is graduating magna cum laude, is a member of Lambda Nu, a national honor society for the radiologic and imaging sciences.
Additionally, she has been listed among Who’s Who in American Universities and Colleges during her college career, and is a familiar name on the Chancellor’s List for students who achieve a 3.5 or better grade point average.
Julie Isaacson, president of Arkansas State’s Faculty Senate and an associate professor of nursing, will speak on behalf of the A-State faculty. Dr. Lynita Cooksey, university provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs, will confer both undergraduate and graduate-level degrees upon the students.
“Arkansas State is privileged to have such an outstanding group of graduates. It is truly an honor to be able to interact daily with students and faculty to facilitate the academic mission of A-State as exemplified by these graduates,” said Dr. Cooksey.
Following the commencement ceremony, there is a reception for all students and families at the north mezzanine with refreshments of punch and cookies.
