A-State to Continue Remote Work Plan Today; Only Non-Essential Personnel Report
Thursday, Feb. 11, 6:30 a.m., UPDATE
JONESBORO – All non-essential personnel should stay home and avoid travel today. Only inclement weather essential personnel necessary to support students residing on campus should be on campus as a pre-dawn winter weather storm has coated all surfaces with a significant layer of sleet and frozen rain.
While remote learning continues, all academic buildings and office buildings are closed today due to the accumulation of sleet and frozen rain.
Essential services for students living on campus remain operational, with Dining Services utilizing brunch hours at Acansa Dining Hall.
Those living on campus are asked to use caution as all sidewalks, parking lots, roads and outdoor surfaces are coated this morning with significant sleet and frozen rain. National Weather Service in Memphis continues the ice storm warning for the Jonesboro area, with additional bands of winter precipitation expected this morning.
Wednesday, 5 p.m.:
With ongoing winter weather and a continuing ice storm warning, Arkansas State University will continue to work remotely for Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021.
The Jonesboro area has icing on roadways and some elevated surfaces today. The National Weather Service in Memphis’ forecast calls for more freezing rain tonight with lows in the mid-20s.
All essential personnel for on-campus operations will continue to report as usual, and the campus is not closed.
As with Wednesday, all on-campus classes will shift to remote course delivery for Thursday. Instructors are asked to reach out to their students as soon as practical to let them know how the learning material will be delivered.
Non-essential staff members will continue to work remotely on Thursday.
Thursday on-campus student non-classroom activities are postponed.
On-campus support areas, including Student Housing, Campus Dining, and the Dean B. Ellis Library will continue operations under their essential personnel policies. On-campus dining operations will continue with their brunch schedule. The Red W.O.L.F. Center remains closed.
A determination on the remote learning/working plan for Friday will be made Thursday afternoon.
