A-State Video Takes Nation’s Top Award at NACMA Convention
JONESBORO – The National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) has issued the Arkansas State Athletics marketing department it’s “Gold Award” for compiling the nation’s top video board segment for the 2012-13 athletic seasons.
A-State Marketing Coordinator Sarah Munoz formulated the idea for the video, which originally ran at the Convocation Center for the Red Wolves’ women’s and men’s basketball games against UALR on Feb. 13 and 14, respectively. The Red Wolves marketing team worked with the ASU Creative Services Department to shoot and edit the video.
The segment featured Howl, A-State’s official mascot, in a short skit playing off the lyrics in Meatloaf’s 1993 No. 1 single “I’d Do Anything for Love.” Although the video was initially designed for Valentines Day, it continues to receive a positive response from fans watching it online. The video, which was among 73 submissions in its category, can be viewed by going to vimeo.com/asujonesboro and then running a search for “Howl’s Valentine.”
"We are honored to accept such recognition from our peers,” said Munoz. “Having been selected gold out of 73 submissions for 'Video Board Segment' among Division I schools speaks highly of the direction we're headed. Credit must be shared with our video crew - Hunter West, Matt Taylor and Tyler Silvey - who took our video idea and gave it life."
"The awards portion of the NACMA Convention began just 10 years ago and has evolved into something my fellow colleagues and I look forward to each year. With over 1,000 submissions for 13 awards this year, there is no shortage of creativity within our industry!"
The A-State marketing department was recognized with the award at the 22nd NACMA Convention, held earlier this month at the World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando, Fla. The A-State Marketing Department includes Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and Promotions Gleen Hart, Munoz, and marketing assistant Clark Woodruff.
Initiated in 2003, the NACMA Best of Awards program honors outstanding achievement in marketing and promotions. Awards are presented in 13 categories, with each category divided into three groups based upon school size and conference affiliations to promote fairness.
