A-State Welcomes The Clydesdales
Arkansas State’s Equine Center is serving as temporary housing this week to one of the most famous groups of horses in the world — the Budweiser Clydesdales.
Nathan Wells, Director of the Equine Center and Assistant Professor of Equine Management, confirmed that 10 horses are being boarded on campus until Monday, June 9.
“I got a call from someone at the Budweiser office in St. Louis asking if we had room and could we help in boarding the Clydesdales for a short time,” said Wells. “I said sure, we’ll help out.”
The horses are visiting for events involving the Anheuser Busch, Inc. grain and grain products manufacturing and wholesale business located in Jonesboro. The huge horses with white stocking feet are used for promotions and are probably best known for their television advertisements during the Super Bowl and appearance in the Rose Bowl parade.
“The people in St. Louis also shipped the horses’ bedding and feed and take care of grooming and exercise,” continued Wells. “We’re happy to have them here.”
