Area Students Participate in ‘Through a Child’s Eyes XXVII,’ opening April 7 at Museum
JONESBORO – Talented young artists from the region will have an opportunity to see their work recognized as Arkansas State University Museum opens the exhibit, “Through a Child’s Eyes XXVII,” on Sunday, April 7, at 1 p.m. with a presentation of awards in the museum lobby.
The Museum is located at 320 University Loop in the west wing of the Dean B. Ellis Library. The artists, their families, teachers, and the public are invited to attend. Admission is free.
“Through a Child’s Eyes XXVII” is a juried art show. Public and private schools within 60 miles of Jonesboro were invited to submit 10 works of art created by children aged four through grade 8. Homeschool students were invited to participate, also.
Since schools were limited to 10 entries, every art work submitted is already a winner. Awards will be given to works of art that are chosen by a panel of judges.
First place, second place, and third place ribbons will be awarded at each grade level. An overall winner will receive the coveted Charlott Jones Best in Show Award. The ASU Museum’s Acquisition Committee will select some art pieces for $50 purchase from young artists who have made their works eligible for acquisition.
This year the show will have 280 entries from children in 30 schools and two homeschool students.
The schools represented are: Batesville Eagle Mountain; Bay; Brookland Middle School; Charlott Jones School of Art; Cherokee Elementary; Concordia Christian; Corning High and Elementary; Fox Meadow Elementary and Intermediate; Health, Wellness and Environmental Studies in Jonesboro; Highland Middle School; Hillcrest; International Studies in Jonesboro; Jonesboro Kindergarten Center; Jonesboro Math and Science; Jonesboro PreK; Jonesboro School of Art; Jonesboro Visual and Performing Arts; MicroSociety Magnet; Nettleton Intermediate Center; Newport Elementary; Oak Grove Middle School; Ridgefield Elementary; Ridgefield High; Trumann Cedar Park Elementary; Valley View Elementary, Intermediate and Junior High; West Memphis Christian; and Westside Middle School.
