Arkansas State SBTDC to Host “Starting a Business in Arkansas” workshop Sept. 10

JONESBORO, Ark. — The Arkansas State University Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC), the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Jonesboro Association are hosting a workshop for start-up businesses in Jonesboro Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 6-8:30 p.m. at the ASU Delta Center for Economic Development building, Room 201. 
 
“Starting a Business in Arkansas: How to Get a New Business Started Right” is a workshop aimed at anyone considering starting a new business and wants to make sure that the business has the best potential to succeed regardless of economic conditions.  

“If you are going to start a business in 2013, then this seminar is the place to start,” said Herb Lawrence, director of the Small Business and Technology Development Center.  

Topics will include business plan keys for success, legal requirements, licenses, fees and permits required by Arkansas, how to determine the feasibility of the business idea, common pitfalls to avoid, information about financing options and more. 

Registration is $30 per attendee, Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce members pay $20, A-State faculty, staff and students pay $15.  The workshop is free to all military veterans and their families.
