Arkansas State To Open Friday At Regular Time
JONESBORO, Ark. — Arkansas State University opens at the regular time on Friday, March 7.
Improved road conditions across the region end the weather-related closure at both the Jonesboro and Paragould locations.
While much of the winter mix has been removed from paved surfaces, caution while traveling to class and walking on campus is encouraged due to continuing melting of the more than four inches of sleet that fell earlier in the week.
“Again, we appreciate the hard work of our Facilities Management team in preparing the campus, and the patience of our faculty, students and staff as we worked through the impact of this winter storm,” Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration Dr. Len Frey said.
Additionally, A-State Provost Dr. Lynita Cooksey reminds students they should not take chances if at any time they do not feel safe in traveling to campus.
"Commuter students are encouraged to use good judgment in deciding whether to drive to campus during inclement weather," Cooksey said.
As was the case during the earlier winter weather closure in February, the Provost reminds students when the decision is made not to travel to campus under this policy, it is the responsibility of the student to immediately contact each professor upon return to explain the circumstances and to determine the need to complete any missed assignments. Students are responsible for all missed assignments during inclement weather within a time frame to be determined by the professor.
