Art & Design Offers DNSPE 21 Printmaking Symposium
JONESBORO – The Department of Art and Design printmakers at Arkansas State University will host a Printmaking Symposium celebrating the 21st anniversary of the Delta National Small Prints Exhibition (DNSPE) on Friday, Jan. 26, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The symposium will be in the Fine Arts Center (GPS: 2412 Quapaw Way) and features an array of undergraduate and graduate printmakers, as well as printmaking graduates and student groups from across Arkansas.
Participants will listen to talks about the process of making art, litho workshops at Tamarind Institute, and a pasted woodcut mural project. They also will see demonstrations about woodcut and chine collé, screen printing, using concrete as paper, using fire and ice to make prints, blood as print, and using gold foil on paper.
The event will conclude by celebrating the 21st DNSPE opening at the Bradbury Art Museum, 201 Olympic Dr., from 5 – 6:30 p.m.
Printmakers include Shasta Blackford, Alexis Kurtzman, Michael Pennekamp and Lauren Whitmore from the University of Arkansas, Dustin Byork’s Mural Team from Lyon College, and Hillary Brooks, Sylvia Clemons, Noel Miller and Zachary Roach from Arkansas State University.
