ASBTDC To Hold Free Employment Rights Seminar
JONESBORO – The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center (ASBTDC) at Arkansas State University has partnered with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Little Rock Area Office to offer two free seminars providing information on employee and employer rights.
One seminar is offered in English and the second seminar in Spanish. Both seminars will cover basics such as questions that can be asked in an interview, how to make reasonable accommodations for workers and how to file a report with the EEOC.
The English language seminar is scheduled for Friday, May 19, from 10-11:30 a.m. The Spanish language seminar is scheduled for Friday, May 19, from 1-2:30 p.m. Both will be held in the Delta Center for Economic Development, 319 University Loop Circle. The seminars are free, but online pre-registration is required. To register, visit http://asbtdc.org/training/jonesboro-events/.
The EEOC enforces numerous federal laws that make it illegal to discriminate against a job applicant or employee due to a person’s race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetic information. The EEOC laws impact most employers with 15 or more employees, and it is each employer’s responsibility to know and follow the laws.
Reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities and individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP) will be made possible upon request. Contact Kelli Listenbee, A-State SBTDC, P.O. Box 2650, State University, AR 72467 or call (870) 972-3517.
