ASBTDC To Host ‘Doing Business With NASA’ Event
JONESBORO – Small businesses will have an opportunity to explore doing business with the space agency NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) by attending a special statewide seminar, “Doing Business With NASA,” Thursday, July 20.
The event will be held at the Reynolds Business Center on the campus of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, 2108 S. University Avenue from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Lunch will be provided. The cost of the seminar is $20.
The seminar is hosted by Arkansas State University and UALR, in cooperation with the Arkansas Procurement Assistance Center. The A-State SBTDC is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration through a partnership with UALR and the A-State College of Business.
The seminar is open to any business interested in learning more about selling goods or services to NASA facilities and their prime contractors. Following a brief presentation, representatives will be available to meet one-on-one with business owners and answer questions.
Over the last three fiscal years, NASA and its prime partners have significantly increased dollars awarded to small companies, increasing awards to small business by approximately $440 million.
“Since small businesses are critical to the success of NASA’s missions and the heart of the country’s economy, events like these are very important to NASA and the local economies,” said Troy Miller, small business specialist at the NASA Shared Services Center. Miller is helping organize the event.
NASA facilities scheduled to appear are the Johnson Space Center, Kennedy Space Center, Marshall Space Flight Center, Stennis Space Center and NASA Shared Services.
Representatives from prime contractors Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), DXC Technology (formerly Hewlett Packard), Boeing, TeleDyne Brown Engineering, United Launch System, Jacobs Technology and NASA Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) will be in attendance.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the program starts at 9 a.m. Pre-registration is required and available online at asbtdc.org/nasa-2017.
