JONESBORO, Ark. — The Arkansas State University Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) along with the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce are offering a “Five Steps for Social Media Marketing Success” seminar Wednesday, July 10, from 1-4 p.m. at the Batesville Area Chamber, 409 Vine Street in Batesville.
The seminar is designed to help area small businesses and organizations to learn to develop an effective social media-marketing plan.
“For the ASU SBTDC, social media networking sites have proven to be very effective online tools that have helped us connect with small businesses, find new clients, and grow our revenue stream,” said Herb Lawrence, center director for the ASU SBTDC.
“The real challenge for small businesses just getting involved is to know the rules of the road for the social media networks they want to use. No social media network is a ‘silver bullet’ that will bring you thousands of customers just because you sign up to join it. Social media such as Facebook and Twitter require time and commitment, but the return on investment can be well worth the effort.”
Lawrence also noted thousands of small businesses in rural areas have found social media marketing networks such as Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn and Twitter to be cost effective 21st century marketing tools that are helping to grow a customer base. But social media marketing has its own set of rules that a small business owner must understand to be effective.
Cost is $35 per person, ($25 for Batesville Chamber of Commerce members and Main Street Batesville members), $20 for University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville (UACCB) faculty, staff and students). Must register with the Batesville Chamber: Call (870) 793-2378 or e-mail Mandi.curtwright@mybatesville.org. Also, Lawrence may be contacted through e-mail at hlawrence@astate.edu or by calling (870) 972-3517.
This workshop is co-sponsored by the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce, Independence County Economic Development, Inc., Citizens Bank, First Community Bank, First National Banking Company, Liberty Bank of Arkansas and Merchant and Planters Bank.
