ASU SBTDC Seminar Will Help Local Businesses Learn How to Build a Website in a Day
JONESBORO, Ark. — The Arkansas State University Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) will offer a special workshop, “Website in Day,” for local small business owners and employees. “Website in a Day” will be held Room 201 at the ASU Delta Center for Economic Development, 319 University Loop West, Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“Website in a Day” will teach business owners how to build effective, easy-to-maintain websites with free online tools. The hands-on training will guide participants step-by-step through creating an attractive, functional, five-page website using ASU SBTDC-provided laptops.
“To compete in local markets as well as in the global economy, Arkansas businesses need to embrace the Internet,” said Herb Lawrence, SBTDC director. “We are delighted to offer this workshop which should help strengthen small businesses by sharing tools, skills and knowledge that can be used to reach more customers online and increase sales.”
Space is limited to 15 attendees and pre-registration is required. To register, contact the ASU SBTDC by calling (870) 972-3517, e-mail asusbtdc@astate.edu or online at http://tinyurl.com/Websiteinaday. Registration Fee: $50 per person, $40 for Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Jonesboro Association members, $35 for ASU faculty, staff and students.
Approximately 97 percent of Internet users look online for information about local services – from restaurants to hardware stores, plumbers to dentists – yet at least half of all small businesses don’t have websites, according to Lawrence.
The event is co-sponsored by the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Jonesboro Association, First Security Bank, Focus Bank, Liberty Bank of Arkansas and Simmons First Bank.
The ASU Small Business and Technology Development Center is funded in part by a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration through a partnership with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock College of Business and other institutions of higher education.
