ASU SBTDC to present Pinterest Marketing Lunch n' Learn seminar
JONESBORO — The Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) at Arkansas State University is offering “Marketing With Pinterest Lunch n’ Learn” workshop on Thursday, August 23, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., to show business professionals the basics needed to put Pinterest to work for their organizations.
The seminar will be held in Room 201 in the ASU Delta Center for Economic Development building, 319 University Loop West, on the ASU campus in Jonesboro. Participants should bring their own lunch.
The workshop instructor, Herb Lawrence, ASU SBTDC director, helps small businesses get the most of out of social media sites like Pinterest as a way to grow an online customer base.
Pinterest, the newest online social network, has exploded across the internet over the past year and marketers of all types are scrambling to learn how to put this new tool to work for their companies. Because of the visual appeal of Pinterest, boards over 11.7 million online users have joined and are spending over 405 minutes per month on site.
“Pinterest has sparked the attention of a wide variety of online users with the powerful attraction of visual content.” said Lawrence. “Businesses have also found that these same users are interested in connecting with them through their Pinterest sites as well. Although only a little over a year old, Pinterest has already moved to the number five spot of social networks in total users, ranks third in monthly visits, and has tied with Facebook for the number one position in total number of hours spent on site per month.”
Lawrence cautions that no social media network is a “silver bullet” that will bring thousands of customers based on joining. Social media networks require time and commitment, but the return on investment can be well worth the effort.
Cost is $30 per person, $20 for Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Jonesboro members, and $15 for ASU faculty, staff and students. Register for this workshop by calling the ASU SBTDC (870) 972-3517, e-mail registration to asusbtdc@astate.edu, or online at http://asbtdc.ualr.edu/training/jonesboro.asp.
