ASU Small Business and Technology Development Center helps businesses grow professional networks with LinkedIn workshop

07/16/2013

JONESBORO, Ark. — The Arkansas State Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) is offering a seminar entitled “LinkedIn Fundamentals: Grow Your Professional Network” to show business professionals the basics needed to put LinkedIn to work for their organization.

The seminar is set for Thursday, July 25, from 1-4 p.m. The seminar will be held in Room 201 at the ASU Delta Center for Economic Development building, 319 University Loop West, on the ASU campus in Jonesboro.

The instructor, Herb Lawrence, ASU SBTDC director, has been helping businesses get the most of out of social media sites like LinkedIn.

“For the ASU SBTDC, LinkedIn has been a very effective tool to help us locate other professionals in the local business community, find customers for our consulting assistance programs, and to market our workshops directly to interested business owners who will get the most out of the training,” said Lawrence. “LinkedIn can work for your business as well.  But, LinkedIn is like any other social media network in that you have to work it to get the results. No social media network is a silver bullet that will bring you thousands of customers just because you sign up to join it.  Social media networks require time and commitment, but the return on investment can be well worth the effort, especially with LinkedIn.”

LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional social media network with well over 80 million members and allows you to connect with trusted professionals to exchange information, ideas and locate potential customers. LinkedIn is a social network for businesses to connect with other businesses and potential customers to help grow the bottom line.

Cost is $35 per person, $25 for Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Jonesboro Association members. ASU faculty, staff and students pay $20.   Register for this workshop by calling the ASU SBTDC at (870) 972-3517, e-mail registration form to asusbtdc@astate.edu or register online at http://asbtdc.ualr.edu/training/jonesboro.asp.

The seminar is co-sponsored by the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Jonesboro Association, First Security Bank, Focus Bank, Liberty Bank of Arkansas and Simmons First Bank.
