ASU Spring 2013 Career Fair slated for March 5-6
JONESBORO, Ark. — Students will have the opportunity to dress up and bring their resumes to secure career or internship positions at the Arkansas State University 2013 Spring Career Fair, Tuesday and Wednesday, March 5-6. The fair will be in Centennial Hall in the Carl R. Reng Student Union from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Tuesday’s session includes all majors and industries, while the March 6 session features Education, Nursing and Health Professions. The fair is hosted by ASU’s Career Management Center.
“The Career Fair provides our students an opportunity to meet with potential employers face-to-face,” said Dr. Markel Quarles, director of the Career Management Center. “Students will get to show how their ASU education and related experiences will benefit the companies they’re interested in.”
Over 50 companies are scheduled to attend on March 5, while 39 companies in Education, Nursing and Health Professions will be on hand Wednesday, March 6.
In preparing for the Career Fair, students should get help with their resume; research companies in advance; attend company information sessions on campus; dress professionally; and develop a 30-second sales pitch that summarizes their goals, skills, experience, and background.
During the Career Fair, students should visit the booths of companies they want to work for first and have questions already prepared. They should also collect business cards and informational brochures. To make a good impression, they should also stop by booths a second time to shake hands and say thank you.
Following the Career Fair, students should send a ‘thank you’ e-mail with an attached resume to each company representative they visited with and continue to follow up.
