ASU Theatre's Production of 'Twelve Angry Men' Opens Feb. 27

JONESBORO – The Arkansas State University Theatre has announced the cast and schedule for the upcoming production of "Twelve Angry Men," by Reginald Rose.

In this play, 12 jury members file into the deliberation room and begin deciding the fate of a 19-year-old boy who is on trial for murder.  What seems like an open-and-shut case on the surface proves to be more complex and dangerous than any of them first thought.  Taking place in real-time, Rose’s classic courtroom drama is sure to keep the audience on the edge of its seat.

"Twelve Angry Men" will be presented at Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Dr., Friday and Saturday, Feb. 27-28, and Monday through Wednesday, March 2-4, at 7:30 p.m.  ASU Theatre’s production of "Twelve Angry Men" is under the stage direction of Lisa Bohn, assistant professor of theatre.

A meet the company dessert reception will follow the opening night performance on Feb. 27.

The cast of 12 jurors includes Sarah Ring, a senior theatre major from Cabot; Paul Coulter, a junior theatre major from Memphis; Jason Despain, a senior radio/television major from Jonesboro; Heidi Sohl, a sophomore theatre major from Benton; Jaelyn Epps, a senior theatre major from Little Rock; Alyssa Burleson, a freshman theatre major from North Little Rock; Brooke Thomas, a junior theatre major from Jonesboro; Virginia Hirsch, a junior theatre major from Cabot; Ashley Pratt, a junior theatre major from El Dorado; Luke Guntharp, a junior theatre major from Jonesboro; Luis Chavez, a sophomore theatre/Spanish major from Jonesboro; and Josh Donner, a senior theatre major from Mountain Home.  Tyler Gillespie, a sophomore theatre major from Dumas, will be the guard.

Scenic/lighting design will be by Jeff McLaughlin, assistant professor of theatre, and sound design is by Jacob George, a junior theatre major from El Dorado. Claire Abernathy, assistant professor of theatre, will serve as costume designer.  Vanessa Williams, a senior theatre major from North Little Rock, will serve as charge scenic artist. 

Tyler Gillespie, a sophomore theatre major from Dumas, will serve as prop master.  Props carpenter will be Reagan Procter, a freshman theatre major from Jonesboro. Bethany Dorton, a freshman theatre major from Judsonia, will serve as wardrobe head.  Sound board operator will be Renisha Parker, a freshman art major, from Van Buren.

Light board operator will be Davis Polston, a freshman theatre major from Searcy.  Cody Campbell, a senior theatre major from Jonesboro, will be projection designer and Betsy Hegger, a junior theatre major from Jonesboro, will serve as projection operator. 

Mike Reagan, a freshman theatre major from Paragould, Kaito Sano, a junior theatre major from Yamanashi, Japan, Morgan Carvell, a junior theatre major from Bentonville, and Dru Ergle, a senior theatre major from Jonesboro, are serving as the wardrobe crew.  Dru Ergle and Morgan Carvell also will serve as the makeup crew. 

Steffanie Smith, a freshman theatre major from Sherwood, and Emily Tucker, a junior theatre major from Jonesboro, will serve as assistant stage managers.  Stage management duties for the production have been assigned to Jeremy Smith, a junior theatre major from Dumas.

Tickets may be purchased for reserved seating in advance at the Central Box Office in the Convocation Center or by calling (870) 972-ASU1.  Tickets also are available online at tickets.astate.edu.  Reserved seat tickets (if available) may be purchased at the door on the evening of the performance.  Ticket prices are $10 ($8 in advance).  Advanced reservations are highly recommended.

Children under six years old are not admitted to ASU Theatre.  Patrons are asked to arrive early; latecomers will not be seated until intermission.
