Automation Outfitters Starts Scholarship in Engineering
JONESBORO – Electrical engineering students at Arkansas State University have another new incentive for pursuing academic success.
Automation Outfitters, a Jonesboro company that produces equipment and services for both residential and commercial automation, have established a scholarship program at Arkansas State.
David Williamson and Greg Williamson started the company in 2005 with a goal of becoming the leader in the residential, commercial and industrial automation industry in the region through their extraordinary service to customers and exceptional quality of their products.
“Automation Outfitters is a local, cutting edge company which has employed our undergraduate students as engineering interns, and has hired our program graduates into full-time engineering design positions," according to Dr. Paul Mixon, interim dean of engineering. "We are extremely grateful for their continuing strong support of our programs.”
While both Williamsons support the university, Greg also is an alumnus with a bachelor's degree in computer science and a master's degree in business administration.
Full-time electrical engineering majors with at least 60 semester credit hours and a minimum 3.0 grade point average will be eligible to apply for the Automation Outfitters Scholarship.
The scholarship program will provide $1,000 per year until the fund reaches endowment level. Then, the annual award will be based on endowment earnings.
Scholarship recipients will be selected by the Engineering Scholarship Committee. The award can be renewed for a second year, provided the recipient maintains full-time status and a GPA of 3.0.
