Beisel to Present Artist Talk at Bradbury Art Museum
JONESBORO – Artist Stephanie Beisel will present a talk in the Bradbury Art Museum on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 4 p.m. Beisel’s exhibition (Selah) currently on view at the museum, features a projection of light through cut etchings and cut paper. It is an elegant and enigmatic installation that transforms the gallery into a calming sanctuary.
(Selah) is the first in a new series of exhibitions, produced by the Bradbury Art Museum, focusing on emerging artists. This series will introduce an artist that creates quality work while establishing their place in the art world.
Originally from Kansas City, Beisel completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design and illustration at Columbia College. She then received her Master of Fine Arts last May in printmaking at the Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis.
Beisel states, “My process of drawing and cutting is a means of introspection. These repetitive, monastic actions occupy the physical body and allow the mind to wander free from the concerns of daily life.” She continues, “Each piece is an artifact of a meditative experience and an ode to the mystery of the universe.”
The exhibition and the talk are admission-free and open to the public. The exhibition closes following the artist talk.
Hours for Bradbury Art Museum (BAM) in Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Dr., are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, and by appointment. The museum is closed on Mondays.
