08/19/2014

JONESBORO – Beth Smith, executive director of alumni relations in the University Advancement division at Arkansas State University, has been elected to the board of trustees of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).

CASE, with headquarters in Washington, D.C., is an international professional association serving educational institutions and the advancement professionals who work on their behalf in alumni relations, communications, development, marketing and allied areas.

Smith will represent CASE District IV, which includes member universities and colleges in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

A member of Arkansas State's staff since 1992, Smith became director of alumni relations in 1997.  In this role, she also serves as executive director of the Arkansas State University Alumni Association.

"Because of Beth's experience at Arkansas State, she will contribute a great deal through her involvement on the CASE international board," stated Dr. Jason Penry, vice chancellor for university advancement.  "At the same time, A-State will benefit from her interaction with notable advancement professionals from institutions across the country and beyond."

Smith completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communications at Arkansas State.  She and her husband, Tom, have two grown sons.

The Arkansas State University Alumni Association is celebrating its 90th anniversary with special activities and projects this year.  More information about the office of Alumni Relations and the Alumni Association is available at AState.edu/info/alumni/.
