Billy Jones to bring high level entertainment to Bluesday Tuesday
KASU radio’s next “Bluesday Tuesday” concert artist is the Billy Jones Bluez Band, which has been entertaining audiences at casinos and blues clubs this past winter and spring. Scheduled for 7 p.m. on June 12 at Newport Country Club, the concert is free, with KASU passing the hat for band tips.
Jones and his band have played several times at Blue Monday in Jonesboro and gave a rousing performance last August at Bluesday Tuesday in Newport. This veteran performer appears at casinos near Lula and Greenville, Mississippi; for private and corporate events throughout eastern Arkansas; and at various Little Rock area nightspots.
Real Blues magazine says that Jones’ newest album — “The Billy Jones Story: The Times and Travels of an American Bluesman” — is “one of the very best authentic modern blues and soul albums in recent memory.”
Jones compiled 15 of his favorite tracks from both live performances and studio recordings. Bluesday Tuesday attendees will hear these and many more, including his signature crowd-pleaser, “I’m Gonna Marry My Mother-in-Law.”
The KASU “Bluesday Tuesday” concerts take place on the second Tuesday of each month in the ballroom of the Newport Country Club, 703 Walker Drive in Newport. Admission is free; KASU personnel pass the hat so that concertgoers may tip the band. Sponsors are C&C Distributors of Newport and ASU’s Newport campus.
