Brian Lasey is Sworn in as CAPPA President
JONESBORO – Arkansas State University’s Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities Brian Lasey was sworn in recently as president of the Central Association of Physical Plant Administrators (CAPPA) at the organization’s annual conference in Lincoln, Neb.
Lasey took over from Sheila Awalt of the University of Texas at El Paso during the University of Nebraska-hosted event. He joined A-State this summer and oversees all facilities operations for the university, which is the second-largest both in enrollment and total land size in the state of Arkansas.
CAPPA was founded in 1953 and is the central regional organization of the Association of Physical Plant Administrators (APPA). The international association includes colleges and universities in the United States, Canada and Mexico, and provides training and support for the professionals who work to operate and maintain college campuses.
CAPPA and APPA also work directly with code agencies and government entities on behalf of the profession and its member institutions to develop and maintain high standards in the administration, maintenance, operation, planning and development of facilities management in educational institutions.
