“Build a Website in a Day” is Arkansas State SBTDC's Next Workshop
JONESBORO, Ark. — The Arkansas State University Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) is presenting a special workshop, “Website in Day,” in Jonesboro, for local small business owners and their employees. “Website in a Day” will be held in Room 201 at the Delta Center for Economic Development, 319 University Loop West, on Thursday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
“Website in a Day” will teach business owners how to build effective, easy-to-maintain websites with free online tools. The hands-on training will guide participants step-by-step through creating an attractive, functional, five-page website using SBTDC-provided laptops.
Statistics reveal that approximately 97 percent of Internet users look online for information about local services – from restaurants to hardware stores, plumbers to dentists – yet, at least half of all small businesses don’t have websites.
Space is limited to 12 attendees and pre-registration is required. To register, contact the A-State Small Business and Technology Development Center by calling (870) 972-3517, e-mail asusbtdc@astate.edu or online at http://tinyurl.com/Weeblyworkshop.
Registration fee is $50 per person, $40 for Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Jonesboro Association members, and $35 for Arkansas State faculty, staff or students.
“To compete in their local markets as well as in the global economy, Arkansas businesses need to embrace the Internet,” commented Herb Lawrence, SBTDC director. “We are delighted to work with to strengthen small businesses by sharing tools, skills and knowledge they can use to reach more customers online and increase sales.”
The event is co-sponsored by the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Jonesboro Association, First Security Bank, Focus Bank, Liberty Bank of Arkansas, and Simmons First Bank.
The Small Business and Technology Development Center is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration through a partnership with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock College of Business and other institutions of higher education.
