02/14/2025

JONESBORO – Caroline Owens and New Company will perform a concert of bluegrass music at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, at the Collins Theatre, 120 West Emerson Street, in Paragould.

From Denton, N.C., Owens has been writing songs since age eight, and she released her first album at age 13. She is a two-time nominee for the International Bluegrass Music Association’s (IBMA) Momentum Vocalist of the Year, an award recognizing outstanding young talent in the bluegrass industry.

Owens is also a two-time nominee for Female Vocalist of the Year by the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America. In 2024, she was nominated for the Bluegrass Vocalist of the Year and Bluegrass Band of the Year by the Josie Awards, recognizing artists in the independent music industry.

Owens has also been selected for the 2025 class of IBMA’s Leadership Bluegrass, an intensive professional development program designed to assist those working professionally in the bluegrass music industry.

Owens, a Billy Blue Records recording artist, has co-written songs with some of the most successful songwriters in the bluegrass world.

Her band, New Company, features veteran and award-winning bluegrass instrumentalists, including bassist Zac McLamb, mandolinist Spencer Strickland, fiddler Ella Thomas, and banjo player Chase Bennett.

Tickets to the Bluegrass Monday concert are $10 per person, payable by cash at the door the night of the concert. Everyone aged 18 and under will be admitted free.

Advance tickets can be purchased at www.kasu.org/tickets. All ticket proceeds go to the musicians, compensating them for their performance.

Acoustic musicians are invited to participate in a bluegrass music jam session at 5 p.m. in the Joe Wessell Building, adjacent to the Collins Theatre. A section of seats in the theatre will be reserved for jammers and their guests so that they can play until the concert begins.

Groups of eight or more may request reserved seating by contacting KASU’s Marty Scarbrough. The theatre doors open at 6 p.m., and seating is first-come, first-served.

The Bluegrass Monday concert series is a non-profit presentation of KASU-FM, providing music fans with an affordable and outstanding evening of family-friendly entertainment. These concerts are held on the fourth Monday night of each month.

The concerts are presented with support from sponsors, including the Paragould Advertising & Promotion Commission, Affordable Medical, Bibb Chiropractic Center, Gardner-Milner Law Firm, the Posey Peddler, Hyde Park Café, Holiday Inn Express and Suites of Paragould and KASU.
