College of Business Recognizes Outstanding Graduates at Convocation of Scholars Awards Ceremony
JONESBORO -- The most outstanding graduates of the College of Business at Arkansas State University were recognized Monday evening at the college’s annual Convocation of Scholars honors banquet, according to Dr. Jim Washam, interim dean of the college.
The outstanding graduate awards were presented to the senior in each degree program who has excelled in scholarship, leadership and service to the respective departments.
State Rep. Davy Carter of Cabot, a 1997 alumnus of the College of Business, was guest speaker. Carter, who represents District 48 in the General Assembly, serves as Speaker of the House. Carter also received the Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) Chapter Honoree Award as a person who has achieved distinction in business and administration and was inducted into BGS, the international honor society which serves programs accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
Andrew Todd of Fort Smith received the Chancellor’s Scholar award as the graduating senior with the highest grade point average in the college this academic year. Katie Edington of Pocahontas received the 4.0 Graduate Award.
Todd also received the departmental award in both programs in which he is a double major, accounting and finance.

Katie Edington and Andrew Todd, accounting; Andrea P. Davis of Weiner, finance/banking; Phillip Butterfield of Lake Hamilton and Andrew Todd, finance; Mary E. Bailey of Cave City and Thomas Langevin of Salem, economics/pre-law; Ashley Cavenaugh of Jonesboro, business administration.
Rinda Pinkley-Hall of Searcy, business technology; Brandon Jenkins of Greenbrier, computer and information technology; Camille Allensworth of West Memphis, international business; Matthew Huth of Cherokee Village, management; Meidai Luo of Hangzhou Province, China, management (human resources emphasis); Limin Zhang of Guangdong Province, China, marketing (logistics emphasis); and Courtney Bolin of Monticello, marketing (marketing management emphasis).
The Talbert-Carrothers Award, named in honor of two former deans of the college, was presented to Katie Edington of Pocahontas and Samantha Kenyeri of Mountain Home.
