Communication Day Gets Closer for Arkansas High School Students
JONESBORO – The 80th annual Communication Day at Arkansas State University is getting closer as students who plan to compete need to register for the March 3 event. Schools need to submit pre-entry registrations before 5 p.m., Friday, Feb. 23. Additionally, students can compete on March 3 in over 20 competitions in the areas of broadcast and print journalism, narrative filmmaking, photojournalism, public relations, advertising, sports, social media, and communication studies/debate.
The Department of Media and the Department of Communication in the College of Liberal Arts and Communication are organizing the event, which will be held in the Education and Communication Building, 330 University Loop Circle.
Students from any high school in Arkansas can compete free of charge for first, second, third and honorable mention prizes. The school accumulating the highest number of points for the day will receive the sweepstakes plaque. All prizes will be presented at 2:30 p.m. the day of the competition.
Students can participate in two types of competitions: (a) Pre-competition: Students submit the work they completed between March 15, 2017–Feb. 23, 2018, dates by 5 p.m. Feb. 23, 2018, and (b) On-site competition: Students compete at the Education and Communication Building on March 3, 2018. The check-in time is 7:45 a.m., and the competition begins at 9 a.m.
