Department of Music to present Choirs in Spring Concert, March 17
JONESBORO – The Chamber Singers, University Women’s Choir and University Men’s Choir will present their spring concert on Tuesday, March 17 at 7:30 p.m. in Fowler Center, Riceland Hall, 201 Olympic Dr. Admission is free.
The A-State Delta Vox will begin the program with songs to be selected from “A Time for Love” by Mandel/Wesster and arranged by Rosana Eckert, “Blue Skies” by Irving Berling and arranged by Steve Zegree, “Hit the Road Jack” by Percy Mayfield and arranged by the Delta Vox, and A-State's “Alma Mater” by Pop Hodge and arranged by Tom O’Connor and Kyle Chandler.
The University Men’s Choir will follow with their portion of the concert with “All That Hath Life and Breath Praise Ye the Lord!” by Rene Clausen, with soloists Jeffery Steward, Gregory Self, Jerrion Smith and David Norris; “Steal Away” arranged by Howard Helvey; “A Dream Within a Dream” by Jarod Roberts and “Idumea” by Richard Bjella with guest instrumentalists Josh Mobley and Kevin Tinker.
The A-State Women’s Choir will continue the concert with “Tango to Evora” by Loreena McKennitt and arranged by Jon Washburn with soloists Megan Carter and Loren Snook and accompanied by the A-State Guitar Ensemble; “Lilacs and Rain” by Neil Pfeifer; “Alleluia” from “Harmonia Sacra” by Henry Purcell and arranged by Nancy Grundahl; “Nada Te Turbe” by Joan Szymko; and “Elijah Rock” arranged by Jester Hairston.
The A-State Chamber Singers will conclude the concert with “The Last Words of David” by Randall Thompson; “Duo Seraphim” by Jacob Handl; “The Heavens are Telling” from “The Creation” by Franz Josef Haydn, with soloists Baylee Stracener, Kane Bradley, and Aaron Fisher; and “City Called Heaven” by Poelinitz, with soloist Katelin Rickman.
