Department of Music to Present Jerry Tachoir in Recital
JONESBORO – The Arkansas State University Department of Music will host jazz vibraphonist Jerry Tachoir in a recital Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Recital Hall, 2412 Quapaw Way.
Tachoir’s wife, Marlene Tachoir, will accompany him on piano. The recital is free and open to the public.
A graduate of Berklee School of Music, Tachoir was the first to receive a bachelor's degree in applied music for the vibraphone and mallet instruments. He has studied extensively in arranging and composition and is a popular jazz artist.
He also is a producer, director and clinician for the Musser Vibraphone and Marimba Co.
His jazz quartet, which has traveled the world and performed at Montreux and other major jazz festivals, has received two Grammy Nominations.
Tachoir is known for his high quality jazz education publications and jazz improvisation clinics. He has been featured on PBS, CBC and Nashville Network, and his experience includes performances with the Pittsburg Symphony Orchestra and the International Symphony in Switzerland.
