Dr. Annette Hux Appointed Chair, School of Teacher Education and Leadership
JONESBORO – After serving the current academic year in an interim capacity, Dr. Annette Hux has been appointed chair for the School of Teacher Education and Leadership in the College of Education and Behavioral Science at Arkansas State University.
“We are excited to have Dr. Hux as chair,” said Dr. Thilla Sivakumaran, dean of the College of Education and Behavioral Science. “Dr. Hux has the background, experience, and vision to lead the School of Teacher Education and Leadership into the future. She will take the high quality programs we provide and make them even better.” The fulltime appointment becomes effective July 1.
Dr. Hux received her Ed.D. degree in educational leadership and higher education from Saint Louis University in 2001, and an M.A. in elementary administration from Southeast Missouri State University.
A faculty member at A-State since 2011, she worked previously in southern Missouri schools as a special education teacher, a principal, and superintendent, all areas for which she holds professional certifications.
“I am deeply honored and humbled to have been chosen for this leadership position,” Dr. Hux said. “It's my privilege to get to work with a collaborative, talented and passionate faculty, who strive to provide the best education possible for our students."
Degree programs administered through the School of Teacher Education and Leadership are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation.
“We are in the process of making some groundbreaking changes in our school, such as moving to a one-year internship program and revising our current curricula to meet new state requirements for teacher licensure. I am extremely grateful for the confidence and trust of my peers in choosing me to direct these initiatives and I look forward to engaging with them as we continue to innovate and prepare students to be excellent teachers and leaders.”
