Engineering Presents Awards to Top Graduating Seniors

JONESBORO – Four students in the College of Engineering at Arkansas State University were recognized as the most outstanding graduates during a Convocation of Scholars honors ceremony, according to Dr. Paul Mixon, interim dean.
The Chancellor’s Scholar award recipient was Jed Schales of Melbourne, a mechanical engineering major. The Chancellor’s Scholar in each college is the graduating senior with the highest overall grade point average for the 2014-15 academic year. Travis Brooks of Jonesboro, a civil engineering major, received the 4.0 Scholar award.
The departmental awards are presented annually to the top graduating senior in each of the academic degree programs.
The award recipients and their respective programs were:
- Travis Brooks of Jonesboro, civil engineering;
- Ilya Nikolayev of Kazakhstan, electrical engineering; and
- Clayton Davis of Paragould, mechanical engineering.
