Fall Program Features Concert Choir and Chamber Singers
JONESBORO – The Department of Music at Arkansas State University will present the first choir concert of the fall semester on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in Fowler Center’s Riceland Hall.
This program will feature the A-State Concert Choir and Chamber Singers under the direction of Dr. Dale Miller, director of choral activities. Brian Henkelmann, instructor in music, will be the collaborative pianist and organist.
The Chamber Singers repertoire will be a preview of selections from the upcoming Madrigal Feaste: “O la, o che bon eccho” by Orlando di Lasso; “All Ye who Music Love” by Balthazar Donato; “Allon, gay Bergeres” by Guillaume Costeley; “All Creatures Now are Merry Minded” by John Bennett; “Ecco l’Aurora” by Andrea Gabrieli; and “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” arranged by Bernard Dewagtere.
The Concert Choir will sing “The Star-Spangled Banner,” arranged by Lloyd Pfautsch; “Christus factus est” by Anton Bruckner; “Go, Lovely Rose” by Eric Whitacre, with solos by Jeffrey Steward and Kiera Payne; “Saul” by Egil Hovland, narrated by Connor Scroggins; “The Plans I Have for You” by Jonesboro composer Jonathan Adams, conducted by graduate conducting student Matthew Crociata; “Elijah Rock” by Moses Hogan; and “The Lord Bless You and Keep You,” arranged by Peter C. Lutkin.
This program is $5 for the public and free for A-State students with their student ID. Tickets are available in advance at the A-State Box Office, (870) 972-2871, or at Fowler Center Box Office on the evening of the performance.
