10/17/2017

JONESBORO – With the Johnny Cash Heritage Festival opening in a couple of days, plans are being finalized to accommodate fans and interested parties planning to attend. The event, combining educational activities and entertainment, is Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 19-21, in the Dyess Colony Circle and at the Johnny Cash Boyhood Home.

Reservations for all shuttle services to and from different communities are no longer available online. Those who have questions regarding shuttle service from communities may contact the Arkansas Heritage Sites office at 870-972-2803.

On Thursday and Friday, the symposium portion of the festival features free public presentations followed by the KASU Music Nights of regional music in the Dyess Colony Circle. Other events include a Memories of a Lifetime oral history project, food vendors, and arts and crafts booths throughout the three days. Food and other purchases are by cash only.

The “cotton field concert” Saturday afternoon beginning at 12:15 p.m. will feature Grammy Award-winning artists Rosanne Cash and Kris Kristofferson, along with Joanne and Tommy Cash, and Buddy Jewell.

Reserved seating for the field concert at the $103 and $53 level is sold out, but $28 general admission lawn seating remains.  General admission ticket holders are welcome to bring lawn chairs. Shuttle service from parking areas to the concert stage is free. Restrooms are available on site.

Tickets are still on sale and available online at AState.edu/tickets, or at the Central Box Office at the A-State Convocation Center (lower red entrance), or by calling 870-972-2781 or 800-745-3000.  Tickets will also be on sale in Dyess the day of the show on a cash-only basis at $28 each.

General parking for Thursday and Friday events at the festival is free.  Parking for the Saturday events, including the morning featured presentations and the concert, is designated at the Dyess Community Center ($10 fee), located on S.H. 297 (Johnny Cash Highway) between Elm and Fourth streets. Parking for $100 ticket holders is off S.H. 77 at County Road 924.

Weather conditions are predicted to be mostly sunny to partly cloudy for the three-day event with temperatures running between 78-80 degrees during the day and 52-63 in the evening. According to weather forecasts, precipitation is ten percent or less.
