Finalists Prepare for Business Plan Competition
JONESBORO — Eight finalists for the oral presentation and 10 for the live pitch competition from the first round of Arkansas State University’s 2016 Fall Business Plan Competition will participate in the final round, Thursday, Nov. 10, at 8:45 a.m. in the executive board room (203) of the Delta Center for Economic Development, 319 University Loop Circle.
The event is free and open to the public. The award ceremony may also be viewed live on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/EntASU/ starting at 12:55 p.m.
The finalists for the oral presentation include APC, Head Tech, JBJ, Lentuseal, Pasture Parent, Bailey Irrigation, StratoMind and WTVW.
The 10 finalists for the live pitch competition, which gets underway at 12:15 p.m., are APC, JBJ, Head Tech, Knallhart, Lentuseal, Pasture Parent, Bailey Irrigation, StratoMind, QuikMed and WTVW.
Dr. Erick Chang, associate professor of management and event coordinator, noted that judges include David Sluder from Optus; Bobby Lorimer from Textbook Brokers; Henry Torres, chief information officer and instructor of computer and information technology at A-State; and Ty Keller, director of the A-State Innovation System. The senior judge is Brandon French from New Wave Wireless.
Also in attendance is Marie Bruno, executive director of Arkansas Economic Acceleration Foundation at Arkansas Capital. Arkansas Capital Corporation Group (ACCG) is a privately held group of for-profit and non-profit corporations dedicated to improving the lives of Arkansans by providing capital to help businesses.
Winner of the business plan will be awarded $1,000, second place gets $500, third receives $300 and fourth through eighth places divide $500. In addition, the winner of the most innovative idea will receive $400. The live elevator pitch winner gets $250. The freshman competition will award a total of $1,350 in prizes to 12 finalists.
