Fine Arts Center to Host Gallery Exhibit
JONESBORO – The Fine Arts Center at Arkansas State University will host a gallery opening for the art show “Manitoba Sugar,” on Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 5 p.m.
Fine artist Pattie Chalmers creates clay objects that depict a shrinking of the distance between fact and fiction — a perspective from memory enriched by imagination.Originally from Winnipeg, Canada, Chalmers is a professor and head of ceramics at Southern Illinois University. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in printmaking from the University of Manitoba and a Master of Fine Arts in ceramics from the University of Minnesota.
Her work has been exhibited in group exhibitions on five continents, in six countries, and in 34 states. She has had six solo exhibits in the last five years. Her most recent art exhibits were at the Mudmaid Museum at the Sheldon Art Center in St. Louis and at Imperfect Ramblings at Merwin Gallery at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
