04/12/2018

JONESBORO – The most outstanding graduating students in the Neil Griffin College of Business at Arkansas State University were recognized Monday evening at the college’s annual Convocation of Scholars honors banquet, according to Dr. Kathy Loyd, interim dean of the college.

While this is the 40th Convocation of Scholars, it is the business school's first awards ceremony as the Neil Griffin College of Business, following the announcement last week of a record gift from A-State alumnus and Kerrville, Texas, businessman Neil Griffin.

The outstanding graduate awards were presented to the senior in each degree program who has most excelled in scholarship, leadership and service to the respective departments.

Katlyn Allred of Paragould received the Chancellor’s Scholar award as the graduating senior with the highest gradepoint average in the college this academic year.  Recipients of the 4.0 Scholar Award are Allred, Richard Crawford of Melbourne, Kristen Lilly of Jonesboro, Lauren Mitchell of Sheridan, Trenton Mullins of Trumann, Austin Reed of Carlisle and Connor Shannon of Jonesboro.  When there is a tie, the Chancellor's Scholar is the student with the most credit hours.

Those receiving departmental awards and their respective degree programs were: Katlyn Allred of Paragould and Josephine Rose of Jonesboro, accounting; Austin Reed of Carlisle, finance (financial management emphasis); Connor Poteet of Sherwood, finance (banking emphasis); Tristan Sweatt of Floral, economics; Richard Crawford of Melbourne and Kristen Lilly of Jonesboro, business administration; Nathan Duncan of Newport, computer and information technology;

Other departmental award winners are Travis McCloskey of Bella Vista, international business; Shamsa Al-Zadjali of Jonesboro, management; Madison Weaver of Marion, management (human resources emphasis); Kristen Vaughn of Jonesboro and Joshua Goldsmith of South Africa, global supply chain management; and Bryant Estes of Jonesboro, marketing.

The Talbert-Carrothers Scholar Award, named in honor of two former deans of the college, was presented to Austin Reed of Carlisle.
