Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center to Lead Cuba Trip
PIGGOTT – In celebration of its 25th anniversary, the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center (HPMEC) will lead a trip to Cuba this spring.The trip will begin on Saturday, May 25, and continue through Saturday, June 1.Ernest Hemingway lived in Cuba for more than two decades. He wrote “The Old Man and the Sea,” for which he won a Pulitzer Prize, at the home he called Finca Vigía or “lookout farm,” which is located nine miles outside of Havana, where he and his wife shared their home with dozens of their beloved cats.
Attendees will experience sites associated with Ernest Hemingway in Cuba. They will also be able to exchange ideas with the Cuban people and will be introduced to their culture and history through interaction with local artists, musicians and farmers.
Travelers will visit historical places and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization World Heritage Sites during the trip.
Those who take part in this special trip will learn about past and present restoration projects in Havana and tour architectural marvels including Instituto Superior de Arte-ISA, which is The University of Arts of Cuba.
In addition to many places in Havana, travelers will visit Viñales, where they will see orchids in the wild and waterfalls at El Salto, as well as visit a working tobacco plantation.The trip is open to the public.
