Hogue Named Interim Chair, Kulkarni Moves to Grants Coordinator
JONESBORO – Dr. Gina Hogue was named the interim chair for the Department of Criminology, Sociology and Geography as Dr. Veena Kulkarni is moving into a coordinator for grants position within the College of Liberal Arts and Communication at Arkansas State University.
Dr. Carl Cates, dean, announced the changes, and that a national search will begin this fall to locate a new chair for the department.
“I’m thankful for Dr. Kulkarni’s service as our chair and look forward to her leadership in seeking grants for our college,” Cates said.
Hogue is currently the associate dean for the college, and will add chairing the department on an interim basis to her duties.
“Dr. Hogue has been a tremendous asset to our college since she joined us, and I know that she will provide great stewardship for the department as we head into a search,” Cates added.
Kulkarni is an associate professor of sociology and joined A-State in 2008 after completing her PhD from the University of Maryland-College Park. Her prior professional experience includes Hewlett Fellow in Demography at the University of Maryland, consultant at The World Bank and research associate in a prominent think tank in India.
