KASU begins new series, "Making A Difference"
KASU-FM, Arkansas State University’s public radio service, is launching a new series of news features titled “Making A Difference.” These weekly, ten-minute features will profile groups and organizations based in the KASU listening area that are working to make a positive impact in the communities they serve.
KASU’s Morning Edition host Johnathan Reaves is producing these features. In them, there will be comments from those organizations’ leaders and volunteers as well as comments from people who benefit from the efforts of those groups.
"The goal in producing this series is to present organizations to the public that are truly making a difference in how they are touching lives in their communities,” Reaves said. “The series takes an in-depth look at each organization, examining its goals and its purpose as well as the challenges it faces and how people are tackling those challenges. I hope the listener has a deeper understanding of that organization after listening to the story."
The first of these features, profiling the Northeast Arkansas Children’s Advocacy Center, will be broadcast on KASU, 91.9 FM, at 8:40 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27. Following its broadcast, the feature will be available for on-demand listening at www.kasu.org.
Other editions of “Making A Difference” will be broadcast on subsequent Wednesdays at 8:40 a.m. Additional groups to be profiled in future editions of the series include the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), the Northeast Arkansas Food Bank, the Ozark Foothills Literacy Project, the Main Street Arkansas program, and the American Red Cross Disaster Relief program.
