LaDawn Fuhr to Direct Corporate Relations Initiatives for KASU Radio
JONESBORO – LaDawn Lee Fuhr is the new corporate relations director for Arkansas State University’s public broadcasting service, KASU-FM, according to Mark Smith, station manager. KASU is a member station of National Public Radio (NPR), and the oldest public radio station in Arkansas.
Fuhr is already known to many KASU listeners as creator and host of the weekly program, “6 Degrees of the Delta,” which airs at 5 p.m. Sunday evenings.
“LaDawn has a long history with KASU, as a listener, a fan, a contributor and a volunteer program host,” Smith said. “She is enthusiastic about the station, and we are excited to see her foster the support we already have, and to develop more partnerships with local businesses and organizations in our region.”
Fuhr earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Arts in heritage studies at A-State, where she is now working on a doctoral degree in heritage studies. She also holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Georgia Southern University.
A native of Jonesboro, her professional background includes media, marketing, communications and government relations positions in Arkansas and Georgia.
Fuhr served as director of marketing for the former Magic 105 in Little Rock, senior regional manager of community and government relations for Suddenlink Communications (now Optimum), and in a marketing management capacity for Subaru, TCBY, and multiple financial institutions.
Fuhr is a Women in Cable Television Rising Leader, a graduate of the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Jonesboro program, a member of Phi Kappa Phi, and a Arkansas Advertising Federation Addy award winner. She also served as board president of the Arkansas Cable Television Association, a columnist for Arkansas Review, and as advisory board chair for Arkansas State University Museum.
“I am honored and excited about being part of the KASU team. I am passionate about KASU, and radio in general,” Fuhr said. “I have enjoyed being a volunteer and content creator for the station, and this position will allow me to continue to tell the KASU story to a broader audience. KASU is an important part of the community, bringing music, news, arts and views to the region. I look forward to connecting with listener members and the business community.”
As a non-profit, non-commercial public radio station, KASU relies on donations from its listeners and underwriters as a vital source for its operating revenue. As corporate relations director, Fuhr will organize and implement station underwriting while exploring new revenue streams and assisting the KASU staff in promoting the station.
Those interested in having her speak to an organization should contact KASU station manager Mark Smith, at 870-972-2283.
