Learn@State to Take Place on Wednesday

03/18/2025

JONESBORO – The Learn@State symposium will occur during Faculty Appreciation Week, starting at 9:40 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19.

Centered on accreditation and assessment and teaching and learning practices by A-State faculty and staff, the event will take place in Centennial Hall of the Reng Student Union.

Kelli Listenbee, director of assessment, is part of a 10-person committee pumping life back into the conference that began in 2016. The program took place virtually in 2021 but has remained on pause until now.

“Learn@State is a mini on-campus conference that highlights accreditation, assessment, teaching and learning. The presentations will offer engaging content and will be action oriented, whether they offer a tool for you to implement in your own course or put you in contact with a possible research peer for future work,” said Listenbee.

This year, Learn@State will partner with the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning to host and feature presentations related to the topic.

“The Howler-Rounds are four-minute elevator-pitch style presentations with a rolling clock and a 'howler' bell that ushers participants off stage if they go over time. It's a treat to watch,” said Listenbee.

Attendees can expect eight 20-minute oral presentations and 10 sessions of Howler-Rounds to occur.

The program will follow the faculty appreciation breakfast. The committee hopes that hosting the event during appreciation week highlights their thanks to faculty and staff for their work in their respective areas across campus to support accreditation, assessment, teaching and learning.

No registration is required, and faculty are welcome to come and go as their schedules allow. Learn@State will adjourn around noon with light refreshments and networking for attendees.
