04/08/2014

JONESBORO – Arkansas State University Continuing Education and Community Outreach (CECO) will host a continuing legal education (CLE) workshop Friday, April 11, to support the Arkansas State University Moot Court team.

The workshop will be held in Centennial Hall of the Carl R. Reng Student Union from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.  Participants will receive CLE credit for five general hours and one hour of ethics.

“As the only undergraduate moot court team in the State of Arkansas, the A State Moot Court Team represents the university and state in regional and national competition, provides a broad liberal arts education in law and society, and encourages creative thinking about the most important legal issues facing our society today,” according to Dr. Hans Hacker, coach of the Moot Court team and associate professor of political science.

Workshop speakers will include Brian Vandiver, Mitchell Williams Law Firm; T. Benton Smith, Cahoon & Smith Law Firm; Rick Landrum, CAA Sports; Robert Thompson, Branch, Thompson, Warmath & Dale Law Firm; and Stephen Svetz, Arkansas Attorney General’s Office.

Lucinda McDaniel, university counsel for the ASU System, developed and organized the workshop.

The fee for the workshop is $275 if paid by April 10, or $300 at the door.  Lunch is provided to those who register and pay by April 10.

For more information on the workshop, interested persons may contact CECO at (870) 972-3052 or visit the website www.AState.edu/ceco.
