M.S. Sport Management Degree Ranks First in Most Affordable List
JONESBORO — Recognized as one of the best sports administration graduate programs in the country, Arkansas State University’s online master’s in sport administration degree program is listed as first on the Top-10 most affordable by the 2016 Sports Management Degree Guide.
According to the publication, the list of 10 universities was selected after reviewing rankings in Forbes magazine, The Princeton Review and U.S. News and World Report. The final list was narrowed to the group with the lowest graduate tuition, according to NCES College Navigator, a website that researches education statistics.
A-State’s Master’s of Sport Administration program, administered by the Department of Health, Physical Education and Sports Sciences in the College of Education and Behavioral Science, became available online in January 2013.
The sport administration master’s program is a 36-credit-hour program that serves graduate students interested in management or administrative opportunities in intercollegiate athletics, professional sports, sports-recreation facilities, sports media, and sports marketing and management agencies.
The program balances theory and practice in order to best prepare graduates for employment in the sport administration field. Each student acquires a comprehensive understanding of the financial, marketing, operational, managerial, socio-cultural, ethical and legal applications in the administrative capacities within amateur and professional sports organizations.
“We are honored by this recognition, especially since the program is still fairly new,” said David LaVetter, program coordinator. “This recognition represents the hard work and unified coordination of our administration, staff and faculty, as well as the quality students we have at Arkansas State University. Our students are our focus as we best prepare them for their professional endeavors.”
