Museum and The Forge Present Maker Movement Events
JONESBORO – Tinkering, a popular activity that is part of a nationwide "Maker Movement," takes place weekly in Arkansas State University Museum’s Tinkering Studio.
On Saturday, June 13, during TinkerFest, 10 a.m. to noon, tinkering will take over the entire museum with numerous hands-on, interactive activities for visitors.
Children and adults will learn how appliances, everyday devices and gadgets work, explore underlying engineering and science principles, and perhaps even invent new items.
TinkerFest projects will include pop-resistant bubbles, origami circuits, computer/toy take apart and reassemble, 3D printing, large-scale building blocks and much more.
TinkerFest guests also can step next door to visit the Delta Center for Economic Development for IDEASFest presented by The Forge, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Throughout the Delta Center and also on the grounds (weather permitting), the IDEASFest maker fair will showcase local inventors and their creations. Visitors will enjoy complimentary picnic-type food while it lasts.
Also, outside the Museum’s south entrance, Kona Ice will be selling shaved ice, which is “Smart-Snak” approved for all schools throughout Arkansas.
