Museum Celebrates 'Through a Child's Eyes' and 'NANODays'
JONESBORO – Arkansas State University Museum will present "Through a Child’s Eyes" and NANODays on Sunday, April 12, from 1 to 3 p.m. Admission is free.
"Through a Child’s Eyes" (TACE) is a juried art show to which 24 schools, both public and private, within 60 miles of Jonesboro, have submitted works of art created by children aged four through grade 8.
First place, second place, and third place ribbons will be awarded by judges to each grade level and an overall winner will receive the coveted Charlott Jones Best in Show Award. In addition, ASU Museum’s Acquisition Committee will select some art pieces for $50 purchase from young artists who have made their works eligible for purchase.
After enjoying TACE, guests may enter the main gallery for hands-on NanoDays fun. Hands-on activities invite visitors to investigate how scientists use special tools to study tiny things, and imagine how nanotechnology could even change how we eat. Other activities include experimenting with heat transfer and completing an electrical circuit using the world’s thinnest material.
Visitors may enjoy the Museum on Wheels, Race for Planet X. Inside this “ship,” one will be “dispatched” to Planet X to gather geologic samples, map the surface of a new planet, and search for signs of life . . . while avoiding the evil “Dr. Nogood.”
The afternoon of art and science has been designed with the public in mind.
