National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week Underway

JONESBORO – Arkansas State University's Counseling Center is conducting its annual National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week in conjunction with campus co-sponsors University Police Department, Volunteer A-State, Student Government Association, Delta Zeta, and Greek Life, which includes National Panhellenic Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council and Interfraternity Council.

"During Alcohol Awareness Week, the Counseling Center provides various fun and interactive events that are substance-free alternatives and informative in regards to the consequences of alcohol use," said Amber Long Martin, student life counselor.  "Our goal is to provide information to our A-State community so that our students can make responsible decisions in regards to alcohol use. Arkansas State University’s students, faculty, and staff will be able to attend and participate in all activities."

Tuesday brings the "We Choose/I Choose" social media challenge, part of the Tailgate festivities located at Heritage Plaza from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.  The official hashtag for the week is #knowyourlimits.  The tailgate includes food, prizes and a DJ.

"Self Care/Body Fit" is a workout class Wednesday at the Red Wolf Center, group fitness room.  The class will be from 12 to 1 p.m., and all participating students need to be prepared to work out while learning how alcohol affects one's body.

On Thursday, the "Bar Exam" will be in the Natural State Lounge from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Panhellenic's "True Life: Alcohol Awareness," for new Panhellenic members,  is Thursday at 5 p.m.
