National Government Finance Association Honors ASU System for Quality Reporting
CHICAGO – The Government Finance Officers Association has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the Arkansas State University System for its comprehensive annual financial report.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management, according to GFOA.
“I’m very proud of our financial team for this honor,” said Dr. Charles L. Welch, president of the ASU System. “Julie Bates in our system office and Myra Goodwin and Russ Hannah on the Jonesboro campus do a terrific job of working with all of our campus CFOs to ensure quality reporting. It’s nice to be recognized nationally for strong financial and disclosure practices.”
An impartial GFOA panel judged the ASU System’s financial report and determined it met the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
