Nursing and Health Professions Recognizes Students during Convocation of Scholars
JONESBORO – The College of Nursing and Health Professions at Arkansas State University recognized its most outstanding graduating students Monday evening during its annual Convocation of Scholars honors program, according to Dr. Susan Hanrahan, dean of the college.
Brooke Allison of Sheridan, a communication disorders major, was recognized as the 2016 Chancellor’s Scholar for having the highest grade point average (4.0) in the college.
Thirty-two students were selected by faculty in the individual degree programs to receive the awards for outstanding achievement, leadership and service to their respective departments and degree programs, both in the classroom and in the clinical experience.
School of Nursing
Award winners in the School of Nursing were: Lee (Todd) Hammon of Paragould, Doctor of Nursing Practice; Leandra Schwartz of Marion, MSN, adult health nursing; Megan Hale of Paragould and Nancy White of Jonesboro, MSN, family nurse practitioner; Daniel Bradberry of Collierville, Tenn., and Michael Andrew Fisher of Bartlett, Tenn., MSN, nurse anesthesia; Candace Sears of Paragould, BSN, nursing; and Carrie Smith of Conway, AAS, nursing.
Dept. of Clinical Laboratory Sciences
Award winners in the Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences and their respective degree programs were: Keat Teoh of Jonesboro, BS, clinical laboratory science; and Alexis Endres of Poplar Bluff, Mo., AAS, clinical laboratory science.
Dept. of Communication Disorders
In the Department of Communication Disorders, the top students and their respective degree programs were: Kaley Harlson of Harrisburg and Olivia Peek of Jonesboro, BS, communication disorders; and Grace Norcross of Tyronza and Ragen Bray of Malvern, MCD, communication disorders.
Dept. of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences
The students recognized in the Department of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences were: Meagan Milidonis of Jonesboro, BSRS, diagnostic medical sonography; Julie Alexis Vaughn of Melbourne, BSRS, radiation therapy; Hailey McCreless of Paragould, BSRS, magnetic resonance imaging; and Bridget Hitchcock of Manila, AAS, radiologic technology.
Dept. of Physical Therapy
The Department of Physical Therapy recognized Chelsey Howell of Violet Hill, Shelby Pickett of Bryant, Lauren Rowe of Jonesboro and Samantha Wood of Earle, DPT, doctor of physical therapy; and Blake Carter of Sulphur Rock and Sandra Lindsey of Searcy, AAS, physical therapist assistant.
Dept. of Social Work
The award winners in the Department of Social Work were Jennifer McDonough of Austin, BSW, social work; and Emily Barrow of Sherwood, MSW, social work.
Dietetics Program
Briana Barrentine of Cabot was named outstanding practicum student in the Bachelor of Science in Dietetics program.
Disaster Preparedness Program
The Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management program recognized Robert Burgess of Jonesboro as the outstanding scholar in the Master of Science, disaster preparedness and emergency management program; and Terry Davis of Jonesboro, Katelyn Orick of Paragould and James Rogers of Jonesboro as the outstanding scholars in the Bachelor of Science, disaster preparedness and emergency management program.
Health Studies Program
Marshall McDaniel of Jonesboro was recognized as the outstanding scholar in the Bachelor of Science in health studies program.
