Office of Research and Technology Transfer Announces Scholarship and Creativity Symposium Winners
The Office of Research and Technology Transfer (ORTT) at Arkansas State University announced the winners of “Create @ STATE: A Symposium of Research, Scholarship and Creativity” during an award ceremony at the event on Thursday, April 5, 2012.
The top graduate honor for a poster presentation was awarded to Muhsin Aydin for his poster “Detection and Genetic Characterization of Salmonella by Bead-Based Suspension Flow-Cytometry.” The top undergraduate honor for a poster presentation was awarded to Jessica Bailey for her poster “Development of an In Vitro Assay to Evaluate Uptake of Human Glucocerebrosidase into Mammalian Cells.”
The top graduate honor for an oral presentation was awarded to Amber Strother for her presentation “Writing a New Mestiza: Identity Formation in Sandra Cisneros’s The House on Mango Street and Woman Hollering Creek.” The top undergraduate honor for an oral presentation was awarded to Brittany Bailey for her presentation “A Preliminary Investigation of Potential Subtle Middle-Ear Differences in Children with Reading Delays.” All grand prize winners received an iPad 2.
Nearly 190 undergraduate and graduate students presented their research, scholarly and creative activities by panel discussion, poster presentation and/or creative performance. Twenty students received first and second place awards in 10 award divisions. First-place students were each awarded an iPod Nano, and second-place students were each awarded an iPod Shuffle.
