01/18/2018

JONESBORO – For the sixth consecutive year since the rankings began, U.S. News & World Report rates Arkansas State University’s online Master of Business Administration degree program once again in the 2018 rankings. A-State stands tied at 12th with Washington State among the 267 universities listed. More than 1,200 programs were surveyed by the publication.

“We are extremely pleased with the high ranking of our online MBA by U. S. News, and very proud and appreciative of our dedicated Graduate Programs Committee and graduate faculty who work hard to ensure we deliver a high quality program and continue to sustain our high rankings,” stated Dr. William Roe, associate dean of the College of Business.

“These rankings are extremely important for the continued growth of our program, as we receive multiple emails and/or phone calls weekly inquiring about our program because of the rankings.  Many of the individuals who apply for and enter our program do so because of our high rankings and they are seeking a high quality program.”

Schools are ranked according to their performance across a set of widely accepted indicators of excellence. In addition, A-State tops the list in faculty credentials and training, third in student engagement, and eighth in admissions selectivity. Ranking criteria included the evaluation of five factors, including student engagement, admissions selectivity, peer reputation, faculty credentials and training, and student services and technology.

Online MBA programs at Arkansas State are accredited by the gold standard of business school accreditation — the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). In order to run the online and traditional MBA programs parallel, the A-State faculty member teaches the online and face-to-face course at the same time.

U.S. News & World Report notes that online MBA program rankings evaluate schools based solely on data related to their distance education MBA programs. The publication defines a distance education program the same as the U.S. Department of Education:

“A program for which all the required coursework for program completion is able to be completed via distance education courses that incorporate internet-based learning technologies. Distance education courses are courses that deliver instruction to students who are separated from the instructor and support regular and substantive interaction between the students and the instructor synchronously or asynchronously. Note: Requirements for coming to campus for orientation, testing or academic support services do not exclude a program from being classified as an online master's in business administration degree program.”
